I was born and grew up in Yokohama. I used to work in Tokyo for more than 20 years. I became the National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in English in 2013. At first, I had attended a volunteer group which provided a tour of the Imperial Palace East Gardens until 2015. I guided more than fifty times in the garden as a volunteer and studied about Japanese history and culture. Based on this experience, I became a tour guide of this online site in 2015. Since then, I have guided more than 500 tours in Tokyo as well as Yokohama, Kamakura, Hakone, Kyoto, Nikko, etc., while improving my tours. My tours are very flexible and I always do my best to customize them according to the interests of my guests. Mark initially asked what are the "must see" places of our day. He gave a suggested itinerary based on our response. He was also very amenable to changes we made during the tour on the fly. His knowledge of Japanese history and culture plus his insight into the modern Japanese point of view was invaluable. We had a wonderful day with Mark!

Today was our family’s first full day in Tokyo and Yumi was such a great help in showing us around the city. She was very flexible with our itinerary as she took into consideration each person’s interests during the tour. Yumi was also very timely and prepared. She carried around a book explaining the culture of the various historical/religious sites we visited, which was very informative. She also took the time to explain the navigation system so we would be able to make it around even when she was gone. Overall, Yumi made our first day in Tokyo a very fun and interactive experience. Anyone would be lucky to have her!!
